the MUPSS Committee
President
simren seychell
3rd Year - (she/her)
Role: Simren is the president of our humble society. She is the one who oversees all the events organised by MUPSS throughout the year, whilst liaising with the teaching staff. She also works with the UoM Student Union, UoM Graduate Students Association, Australian Physiotherapy Association, and other Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences Societies to optimise the DPT experience. Simren lives and breathes the concept of ‘work hard, play hard’ and is always down for a chat, so message/email her if you have any questions or concerns.
Piece of advice: Look after your fellow students, you’re not competing against each other so just be nice to your colleagues and help people in any way you can. This course is a marathon not a sprint, so everyone will have good days and bad days.

vice-president
manny seeid
3rd Year - (he/him)
Role: Manny was elected as Vice-President to help support every member of the MUPSS committee, especially the President, and to make sure things are running smoothly. Manny is highly involved both within and outside of university life, so he knows all the ins and outs of being a DPT student. He is always happy to help and loves a good pun so if you see him, make sure to say hi!
Piece of advice: My tip for incoming DPT1 students is to practice as much as you can with as many other students as you can! Physio is such a hands-on course and you can learn so much from each other!
Secretary
edna dizdarevic
2nd Year - (she/her)
Role: The Secretary is integral to the smooth operation of the committee and is always ticking away at something in the background in the realm of organisation and management. Edna is google drive/calendar obsessed and loves to procrastinate by over organising events and documents. Edna adopts the “cool mum” title on the MUPSS committee and is always here to provide positive vibes, emotional support, or just to chat. Shoot her a message whenever.
Piece of advice: Don’t stress about learning every tiny, intricate detail from all the lectures, DPT isn’t like undergrad. If you understand the key concepts and apply clinical reasoning, you’re halfway there already.
treasureR
anusha budehal
2nd Year - (she/her)
Role: Anusha is in charge of all things money-related. She has a major influence on where the society's money is spent and ensures we have sufficient funds to run all our awesome MUPSS activities throughout the year. 2020-2021 were years lacking social events, driving Anusha's excitement to gain funding for events making 2023 a year to remember.
Piece of advice: Honestly just have fun with it! Get to know as many people as possible because you’re stuck with ‘em for 3 years!
Education officers
Role: For all things on the academic side, Maddison and Lucas are your point of call. Our fab Education Officers regularly liaise with teaching staff of the physiotherapy department, so any queries or concerns regarding your degree will be kindly listened to by them. Maddison and Lucas also organise educational events to ensure that you get the most out of this degree, while also overseeing the educational special interest groups.
Piece of advice: It’s a huge year, but also a great one! Don’t panic if you don’t know everything- your greatest resource are your peers, so work together, ask questions and get to know each other! Most importantly take time for yourself, a good uni-life balance is important. So excited to meet you all soon!

Piece of advice: Attend as many social events as you can! One of the best parts of physio are the friends you make.

International officers
The international representatives aim to ease the transition of moving to Melbourne from wherever you are travelling from and back. We are also here to assist domestic students if they have interests working abroad too. Michael and Victor hope to help you make Melbourne feel like a home away from home!

Piece of advice: 1. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Be it a friend, a family member or anyone from the DPT cohort. Doesn’t have to be academic needs but also just general advice. You’ll be surprised by how many people are feeling the same way or have been through a similar situation. A little wisdom can go a long way!
|
Piece of advice: Welcome to our physio family, I can’t wait to meet all of you! First year can be tough, but remember to look after your physical and mental health, it is important to have study breaks and don’t burn out!

Inclusion, diversity & wellfare officer
john taylor
3rd Year - (he/him)
Role: John ensures that everyone’s voice is heard and that all of MUPSS actions include all physiotherapy students. He oversees all MUPSS activities, advocating for diversity, welfare and inclusion, and works alongside staff to flag any concerns. John is always happy to be contacted if you have anything to talk about.
Piece of advice: Studying physio can be a wild ride but if you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, don’t forget to reach out and ask for help! The entire MUPSS team, the staff and your fellow students are all there to support you through it.
social media & communications officer
amelia dentesano
3rd Year - (she/her)
Role: Amelia is the mastermind behind our social media, especially facebook and
instagram. She's our chief design person and has a much keener eye for detail than some of the aforementioned names (Simren and John). Amelia is super organized and plans out all social media engagement on these channels, enhancing the MUPSS brand and building the sense of community.
